S&P Dow Jones Indices defines the dividend aristocrats as the companies included in the benchmark S&P 500 (SPX) that have raised their dividend payouts every year for at least 25 years. A high dividend yield is not required.
These are large, blue chip companies that have historically provided (slightly) better performance and (slightly) lower volatility than the S&P 500 as a whole.
Rebalancing January 2015
S&P Dow Jones Indices today announced the annual rebalancing results for the S&P500 Dividend Aristocrats Index. These changes will be effective after the close of business on January 30, 2015. No additions, deletions: Family Dollar Stores Inc, ticker FDO.
