About the S&P 500 Dividend Aristocrats Index
The S&P 500 Dividend Aristocrats index (inception 5/2/2005) selects companies in the S&P 500 that have increased their dividends year over year for at least 25 consecutive years. It currently contains 54 companies diversified across the consumer staples, industrials, materials, health care, financials and consumer discretionary sectors. The companies in the index are equal-weighted, rather than weighted by market capitalization. It is reconstituted annually in January and rebalanced in April, July and October.
